Write in Word
Write results back into your document
- Word for Windows
- Requires sign-in
Every reply has a Write to document button. It replaces the text you selected — or inserts at the cursor — and you can undo it.
Write a reply into your document
Section titled “Write a reply into your document”-
In Word, select the text you want to replace — or just click where the new text should go.
-
Under the reply in the sidebar, click Write to document.
-
Textmolt confirms with Written to document and shows an Undo button for about 15 seconds.
If you selected text, the reply replaces it. If you only placed the cursor, the reply is inserted at that point.
What gets written
Section titled “What gets written”- The reply’s text. When a reply sets out a replacement passage on its own, Textmolt writes just that passage.
- Plain text. Markdown in a reply, such as
**bold**, isn’t turned into Word formatting.
Undo a change
Section titled “Undo a change”- Click Undo in the confirmation while it’s showing. Textmolt restores your original text and says Reverted to the original text.
- If you’ve already edited the new text, Textmolt doesn’t overwrite your edits. It copies the original text to your clipboard instead and tells you Selection has changed — original text copied to clipboard, so you can paste it back yourself.
- You can also use Word’s own undo (Ctrl+Z).
Other buttons under a reply
Section titled “Other buttons under a reply”| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Write to document | Writes the reply into your document, as described above. |
| Copy | Copies the same text to your clipboard, so you can paste it anywhere. |
| Pin to memory | Saves the reply as a note that Textmolt can refer back to in later answers. |
Conversations belong to a document
Section titled “Conversations belong to a document”Each conversation is linked to the document it started in. If you switch to another document and click Write to document, Textmolt stops and tells you This chat belongs to “…”. Switch back to that document before applying. Switch back to that document, or start a new chat in the document you’re working on.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”“Write failed: …”
Section titled ““Write failed: …””Word didn’t accept the change. Make sure the document is editable — not opened as read-only and not protected against editing — then click into the document, select the text again and retry. If it keeps failing, copy diagnostics and contact support.
“Not connected to host document, cannot write to selection”
Section titled ““Not connected to host document, cannot write to selection””The sidebar has lost its connection to Word. Close the sidebar, then open it again from Textmolt → Open Sidebar.
The reply went to the wrong place
Section titled “The reply went to the wrong place”Use Undo straight away, or press Ctrl+Z in Word. Then select the right text and click Write to document again.
